With the latest Venom trailer featuring Knull, the franchise is headed for darker and more epic times. Knull is not just an ordinary villain he is the god that made the symbiotes and hence his introduction in the Venom story turns it upside down. For those who have not read the comic books Vennol is certainly one of the most powerful and terrifying villain in the Marvel who is capable of doing away with worlds governed by symbiotes as well as the entire Marvel Universe.
According to the comic, Knull was also in possession of the Necrosword a weapon that can be used to injury or kill gods and cause extreme destruction. He even does not care about the lives of others and instead chooses to wage endless wars inside and out the universe to spoil all hearts with evil. Knull’s appearance means that the new segment will diverge quite sharply from its predecessors, moving the battlefield from the streets to the cosmos. This fits well with newest adventures of Marvel who began to dig deeper into the multiverse and cosmic dimensions in their cinematic diversity.
The singular theme that is most captivating with respect to Knull’s character is the introduction of his character in relation with that of Venom. As such, Knull being the creator of Venom actively controls the symbiote. The question arises, will Venom be able to break the control of his very creator? This struggle presents a fuller picture of Eddie Brock’s fight against the evil parts of Venom in him. Eddie is not only defending his life anymore. Even more than that – he has to deal with the symbiote that could control the very thing residing in him.
Last but not least, Knull’s introduction might also open the door further notch for crossovers with other marvel properties as in the comics Knull’s storyline involves characters such as thor and the guardians of the galaxy. It is, however, not clear as to what proportion of the upcoming movie will attempt to explore these wider connections, however, given Knull’s presence in the picture, there is a possibility that Venom and the Marvel cinematic universe might in the future interact.
