“Sisters and Neighbors!” (original title: “Nos belles-sœurs”) is a 2024 Canadian musical comedy written and directed by René Richard Cyr. The movie is based on a play by Michel Tremblay – Les Belles-sœurs – which is considered one of the important Canadian plays.

Synopsis

The movie covers events that occurred in Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal in the late ‘60s. Germaine Lauzon, a housewife, is the main character of the story. She has won one million trading stamps from a sweepstake program. These stamps can be exchanged for various household items, representing a dream come true for Germaine. She has her daughter, a sister, and some neighbors over for what she calls a ‘stamping party’ where they will help to paste the stamps into booklets. Yet, during the party, the woman’s underlying jealousies come forth which eventually creates tension and conflicts.
