“The Finest Hours” tells the story of a remarkable small-boat rescue in U.S. Coast Guard history against the backdrop of a catastrophic storm off the coast of Massachusetts in February 1952. During this period, an oil tanker by the name SS Pendleton was caught in a severe storm which resulted in her splitting into two parts, one of which contained thirty sailors.
Amidst all this chaos, young and modest Coast Guard crew member Bernie Webber is reluctantly tasked with taking a small wooden lifeboat battling hurricane winds and rough waves to rescue the stranded crew alongside three other men. While the odds are not only impossible but dangerously life-threatening, Bernie’s determination and strong resolve act as the driving force behind his mission—and amazing feats he will achieve—investment towards them success finally . On board the Pendleton, however, Ray Sybert emerges as her engineer keeping aloft long enough for help to arrive transforming him into an overnight leader.
