🎥 Synopsis

The Kashmir Files is a tragic political film focused on one of the most stressful and painful events in contemporary Indian history, the mass migration of Kashmiri Hindu Pandits during the 1990s. The film’s premise is a non-linear recollection of the life of Krishna, a young student in a modern university, who goes on an existential expedition to unravel the truth about his family’s history which is buried deep in the vaults of silence, ignorance, deception, and sustained forgetfulness.

Krishna seems to be confused with various contradictory narratives and tries to reconcile two starkly antagonistic worlds – the one world fabricated by his teachers at the university, and the other world salvaged from the frightful memories of the avalanche of violence and bloodshed. The unfiltered and untamed accounts of violence from the survivors slowly sinks him into the depth of unfathomable maze of treachery, violence and systematic wiping out of history.

The answer to this remains unanswered – Does the blind scenario of subjective remembering has a rational way to let truth exist in it?
